Now you feel my pain. We are now on our 4th!! (kid, not car). 1(boy) at 21, 1(girl) at 17, 1(boy) at 14 and now baby boy at 7 months   :sos:

Hence why my X5 40d is considered a "small" car  :))

But at least our youngest looks like he will be a car fanatic  :)

Must admit, it has crossed my mind to sell the kids and keep the cars. Would be much cheaper in the long run

We are selling it to get her something a bit bigger and i am offering it here for the trade in price we have been offered at MINI (but if it sells here we will not be tied to buying from a dealer)

It is currently on a private plate which will be removed when it sells and it will go back on its original reg (YR16HFJ). There is outstanding finance which will be settled as soon as the car sells

I may be tempted to take a px  (i shouldn't , but i might 8))

Will upload more photos over the weekend

How-To / Flappy paddles on 2011 lci
« on: December 31, 2017, 02:45:10 AM »
Its probably been answered on here many times but i cannot seem to get a yes or no from google searches

My 2011 40d m sport had the steering wheel swapped by the previous owner to a flappy paddles version. However, that was as far as he got. What is involved in getting the paddles working

On one of my previous land rovers it was a case of swapping the wheel and spiral cassette and that was it!
will this be the same or much more involved

Thanks in advance

Problems / Re: 2011 40d starting issue-First problem
« on: December 18, 2017, 11:51:40 PM »
Mine has never felt low on power. Its just the first few seconds after cold starts. Will definitely clean out the inlet manifold but i am convinced i have a glow plug issue as well.
This morning was 1 degree but got no glow plug light, started then cut out after a few seconds. Started again and did the same again, third time got the glow plug light and it started and ran ok

Am thinking of swapping the 6 plugs and the relay

Not sorted mine yet but have noticed that i don't always get the glow plug light on cold starts (even at -4 last week)??
When the glow plug light does come on it starts and runs smoother but still not perfect. Like i said in my post it only lasts a few seconds and few blips of the throttle sorts it. Am considering changing the glow plugs and relay but to do that the inlet needs to come off so maybe an opportunity to give it a clean out and remove swirl flaps?

Also last week had the engine light come on and it was EGR related so hopefully the previous advice on here may be correct.

Is there anyway to blank the EGRs on these engines. Was a common fault on land rovers and EGR blanking is a common fix

Thanks Guys

Thats the problem around here. On my discovery i swapped from 20" wheels to 18 just to improve the ride over the potholes  :(

How-To / Satnav day/night mode??
« on: November 15, 2017, 08:52:54 PM »
I recently drove my new X5 at night for the first time and found the satnav very bright. After a bit of fiddling i found the settings with night mode
I selected night mode and it was much better in the dark but it is now in the darker "night" setting all the time day or night.

Is there a setting hidden somewhere to have the day/night mode automatic when the lights are on (like my landrover did) or is it a case of manually selecting day or night mode
