I fitted these for a friend yesterday as he didn't have Xenon and changing the halo bulbs is a real PITA. These are well priced and look the part.

The plastic lens can be replaced and loads of them for sale on eBay . Vidéos on youtube showing how to do it. Just search E70 headlight lens replacement.

Had a previous X5 stolen on me so decided for future cars I would look after the anti theft myself. I've fitted one of these in the rear well hidden behind the panelling and ran the fuel pump wire through it . So at least for £20 on ebay I can remotely disable the car where ever it is with my phone and I've also fitted a stand alone tracker (£40) where I can locate it. At least I get peace of mind .

This explains it better

Definitely normal on an E70. The blower has no less than 13 electronic actuators attached to it which control all the vents. These are cheap pieces of crap normally made in Mexico and are prone to condensation which corrodes the electronics within. Only 1 can be got at from the footwell and the dash needs to come out to get at the rest.

I have a mint set of 19" Msport 9 & 10 for sale. No welds, cracks or buckles.

Don't worry, you're not on your own. I'd reckon 90% of E70's don't have heating or AC working properly. It's a complete disaster of a system with no less than 13 actuating valves  on the blower. These pieces of shite are made in Mexico and suffer from destruction and corrosion due to condensation. Problem is you can only get at one of them without removing the whole dash. Most E70 drivers I know just live with it .

ATC is the GM acronym for active transfer case. If this be the case those E70 transfer cases look like being out of the General Motors stable and that certainly wouldn't inspire confidence . Could be completely wrong of course. The single bigest question  is how much of our trusty steeds is actually made by BMW ?  Every single little part you take off is from Mexico, China , Spain etc. Just Meccano at the end of the day and when something goes wrong just blame the other fella.

Anybody ever question who actually makes those transfer boxes ? I know the earlier E53 ones were made by ATC and weren't the best either when they came under a bit of pressure. Just like the self destructing Chrysler E53 auto boxes that were  made under license in France. It's too easy to blame the poor old tyres for everything.

I'm on my 2nd E70 and always run on normal tyres rated at 111 and have never had an issue . In saying that I don't have staggered setup anymore. Car drives way nicer with 4 x 255 x 50 x 19

Maybe trade it back in for another 996 😂

Word of warning when replacing the glow plug control unit. Friend had his E70 with dealer last week for glow plug replacement and new control unit. On his way home he had the infamous " increased emissions " message with engine management light on. Next day back to dealer who cleared the fault. 1 hour later the whole lot was back again. Back to dealer who once again cleared the fault and adjusted the activation figure from 0 to + 40 . 10 more miles and lights on again. Had my suspicions so took a look at the new glow plug control unit and hey presto here was the problem yet once again. This is the 3rd time i have seen this. What happens is when the old unit is removed and new one fitted one of the vacuum lines gets trapped and crushed under the corner of the new unit. Difficult to see when youre doing the job . New piece of vacuum hose and problem solved. Also readapted  the settings from +40 back to zero .Simple things can cause havoc.
