You can.

I had my door card off at the weekend to investigate the door speaker fault and now the airbag light is on. I had the plug disconnected at the door while I had the ignition on (to check the speaker). I assume this is where I’ve gone wrong? I know on an Audi/VW if you turn the ignition on with an airbag disconnected it will put the light on,are BMW’s the same?
Should be able to turn it off with a scanner my c310 does it.

sorry for the late reply , holidays . and work   :)
I got some of that Dr tranny lube fix,  put in 2 tubes of that and the judder has gone . (dunno how long it will last though)
I've got the car booked in on Tuesday for an inspection 2 service , and there going to change the fuel filter too,
will keep you posted.
That is exactly the same as my 320d and it was the lock up clutches in the torque converter.
I drove down to Birmingham to a place that refurbish them and got 1 fitted cost me £500 and that included fuel and dinner.
I know i have just repeated myself lol should have gone through the full post.

Problems / Re: Knocking from front end

When i had a similar problem my friend of 40 years and garage owner tested the front end on his one man mot test ramp the electric plates that shake the car sort of.
Well nothing no play in any joint very strange so i said to do it the old way.
We lifted the front and used a big pry bar and found the n/s bottom joint was nearly falling apart.
Just shows the old ways where the best but how many cars have passed the mot useing this new(ish)  system ????????.

How-To / Re: Fitting oil pressure gauge
« on: October 16, 2017, 12:48:41 PM »
Thanks Lez
I will keep looking now i know the size of the sensor.

Somewhere like here has lots of t-pieces, and remote t-pieces, thread adapters etc http://www.lmaautoparts.com/products/Gauges___Gauge_Fittings/

You can also look at demon teeeks or google SPA oil gauge for fancy choice of analogue or digital gauges

Most gauges are a standard 52mm hole with a 56mm fascia
Thanks for the link.
Will do some homework now.

The thread size of the BMW oil pressure switch is M12x 1.5mm, and the oil pressure sensor for the  gauge is
1/8 x 27tpi. I also bought a piece of threaded bar M12/1.5mm and cut/drllled it out to make an extension to move ''T'' away from the filter housing.
I bought the taps and dies off ebay.
So was able to modify/retap the adaptor as required and used ptfe tape to seal the threads.

Thanks for the info.
Can i not just buy a "T" to do the job as it will be a road side job sort of and i don't have taps and dies.( my nephew will be fitting it on his drive)

Have you driven the car if not go for a short drive.
Try turning the wheel lock to lock.

What size was the adaptor/T you used to plumb it to where the oil pressure sender goes.
Any links.

I put a battery that is fitted to stop/start cars on my e46 2.0d a couple of years back and no problems at all.
If anything it will hold charge longer if the car is not used but that could be my imagination lol.

I use a suction pump and can also get the oil out of the filter housing the will not come out if you drain through the drain plug.
First time I used it I took the drain plug out just to see if any oil was left in and not a drop came out.
