General X5 Forum (E70) / Spring cleaning....
« on: April 16, 2018, 06:42:44 PM »
So I've had this for about 4 months now. It's a great car, it's effortlessly powerful and the V8 is sublime. I gave her a good clean at the weekend, used Poorboys and Collinite, and Autoglym for the plastics. I am over the moon with the results. I've replaced the kidney grills with gloss black and I am just awaiting a full LED pack for Angel eyes and interior. I am also considering a subtle exhaust mod as I think it's a tad too quiet. My mate has a e53 4.8 and his exhaust sounds much better. I also see there is a SC upgrade making 525bhp, but as tempting as that is, I think a X5M would be a more sensible option.

Problems / Headlight washer
« on: March 06, 2018, 08:18:14 PM »
Just noticed that the drivers side headlight washer is not quite right.

It still works but when squirted a tube pops out and water just pours on the floor.

Is this a simple diy fix? What parts do I need?

General X5 Forum (E70) / Keys
« on: December 03, 2017, 09:25:42 PM »
My car only came with one key. I've looked into getting a spare but they are over £200! Looking through the bits and bobs draw and found a key from my old 1 series. It's the same style key, could it be reprogrammed to use with my X5?

Hi all - I am moving to an e60 M5, so my trusty steed is for sale.

I purchased on 11th Jan 2013 from a gent in Plymouth with 89K miles. The owner had it for 5 years! Even had seat covers on it! Being a "mature" owner, its been treated with care and respect, and driven sensibly 95% of the time. Only stretching her legs now and again... (mainly when the SWMBO isnt in the car!)
I spent some time looking for this colour combo, along with full history and lowish owners. Making the trip to Plymouth from Nottm was fun (especially on the way back, as I caught the train down there)
Anyway, I have a folder FULL of paperwork to validate all the work that has been carried out over the years ALL BMW History (except the last Insp 1)

Former keepers: 4
First Reg 09.01.03

Subframe has been inspected by BMW Nottingham during oil service in Jan 2013, however not documented, just verbally gave me the all clear, so I then took it to 2 other garages local to me to check I wasnt being spun a yarn.. both people are friends of mine, and I have seen with my own eyes and there are no issues. Last documented check was 2007 by BMW Sytner Chigwell. Also never been highlighted on any MOT as an advisory, and if it was an issue it would have shown up on this.
SMG has never had any issues - works floorlessly
Clutch is fine also - no issues with gear changes or judder
MOT Exp: Dec 2014 (past last MOT with NO advisories)
Tax Exp: Jun 2014
2 x Keys + Slave Key
Document Wallet - with ALL paperwork present.
Current miles 106k
Bodywork is very good (as you can see) - there is no rust at all anywhere! There are a few small imperfections on the bonnet nose (but nothing out of the ordinary)
The rear view mirror has a small (0.5cm) gap where the chromo liquid has fell away. But the mirror does not leak!

I will be sorry to see her go - but just have to scratch my V10 itch..

General X5 Forum (E53) / Load cover
« on: December 06, 2013, 08:08:31 AM »
Will a load cover from a e70 fit in a e53?

I see there seems to be  2 types. Mine looks like it takes the roller blind type

Buy and sell / Apple MacBook Pro 13.3" Oct 2011 A1278 Model
« on: November 28, 2013, 07:51:27 AM »
For Sale
Apple MacBook Pro 13 Oct 2011 Model 500Gb HDD/8Gb RAM

Nottingham, Notts

Price:   £650 ono
Condition:   Second hand
Manufacturer:   Apple
Model:   A1278
Wireless:   Yes
Hard Disk Size:   500 GB
Processor :   2.4 GHz
Memory:   8 GB

This is my MBP that I have had for about 20 months with only 143 charge cycles

It's not been used much (as I also have an iMac) but I now need a MacBook Air as I am travelling a lot more so would like something lighter.

It's running 8Gb RAM so running Parallels is a breeze.

Perfect working order no faults no damage no dead pixels

Cosmetically it is excellent. I wouldn't say perfect as it's been used, but that said I have always had a clip case / skin on it to keep it protected from life's little knocks and bumps... and will come supplied with it.

I don't have the original box I'm afraid.

Mains charger included.

Not a lot more to say really. Genuine reason for sale.

Disc will be formatted for new owner.

500Gb HDD
i5 dual core 2.4Ghz
13.3 LeD screen
Backlit keyboard
CD/DVD SuperDrive
latest OSX Mavericks Installed

Problems / Sat Nav. Disc error
« on: November 14, 2013, 01:12:50 PM »
Is there anyway to reset the Nav? It was working fine now it just says error reading disc. I've removed it and cleaned it. No change. Will sometime say please wait... And nothing.

Performance / Re-mapping
« on: November 05, 2013, 08:59:34 PM »
Just been reading some posts about remap on 3.0d. Mines a facelift model so has the better 218bhp engine, but I think it may have had a remap. It's bloody nippy and on a run of about 70 miles I clocked on the OBC 41.2 mpg doing 70 to 80ish.  The guy I bought it from was unsure if it was mapped but he hadn't done it. Is there anyway of telling other than a rolling road?
