Don’t panic! They’ll be painted when the ramp is back up at work, our new business premises came with a 2 post Bradbury ramp so I will be in underbody painting heaven in a couple of weeks  :))

Just off of interest there was a safety recall for the e53 steering wheel airbag, have you checked if yours has been done? Might save a bit of faffing if it needs a new one anyway for free.

All a bit of a pain but quite nice when you see it all shiny every now and again when it’s up on the ramp!

Got my kit from B&B in Maidstone, they are a Meyle HD distributor, they also sell on eBay but if you phone them up you might get a deal. Plenty of folk have fitted the cheapest copies from China with no problems but I also came across tales of some of those components feeling loose before they were fitted! These allegedly have a 4 year guarantee.

One of their  eBay listings is here for

1 x L/H FRONT CONTROL ARM

1 x R/H FRONT CONTROL ARM

1 x L/H REAR CONTROL ARM

1 x R/H REAR CONTROL ARM

2 x LINK ROD

2 x BALL JOINTS

Problems / Re: A couple of problems to start the day roling.
« on: August 03, 2018, 11:27:00 PM »
I had the same issue when I picked up the car, the chap said only one key worked and assumed it was a flat battery.
All I did was re-pair the key to the car and used it for a few days and it’s been ok for the past 12 months, try the reset procedure here http://bmw-key-replacement.com/bmw-key-programming-free-guide/bmw-remote-key-fob-programming-guide-instructions-for-bmw-diamond-key/ - you never know, it worked for me!😀

You can’t argue with the price on eBay! I on;y paid about £6 for some but they lasted less than a year, so I decided this time to go genuine from Cotswold BMW - there’s a discount for forum members, it’ll be interesting to see if they last a bit longer

These are the bits I had to get for mine when I stripped the wheel arch out:

Inner Wheel Arch
Hex head screw & washer x 7 07119902267
Expanding nut x 7 63121374075
Expanding rivet x 4 51481915964

Wheel arch trim
Expanding rivet x 10 51717002953

If they look like this they’re the ones ending 694

One of these

I’ve got one to sell if you want to PM me an offer

Thanks Henry, mine is the same with iPod classic or iPhone 6s Plus, if I try and select the keyboard option and press a letter it takes an age to appear then crashes, try to select artist/album/song to search and it flicks between options of its own accord - there is a ghost in the machine 👻!
Hopefully they’ll agree to an exchange, I don’t really want to drive to Worcester but I just want it to work!

After you’ve polished the hell out of it, could you apply a dark exterior tint film to cover the patchiness up, might hide it so it looks better

1. The res of the Apple Car Play icons is fuzzy. They are looking into it for me, but it looks a bit rubbish compared to a pin sharp Iphone screen!

Couple of questions:
1. Do you ever get this resolved?
2. Do your iPod controls work well? I’ve had nothing but trouble with my N7, the iPod controls don’t work properly - the buttons take 6-12 seconds to register that you’ve pressed them and then it crashes most of the time. The unit has been back for a repair but is still the same, John at Dynavin in Worcester has been very helpful but I’m just trying to get an exchange unit fitted now by driving up there.

I would expect the iPod controls to be as quick as all the other buttons but mine have always been use;ess so I’d be interested to know if yours or anyone else’s are anything less than reliable and instant.

3. Is anyone using a 30pin iPod classic in their Dynavin? I’ve tried my phone as well and it’s just the same but useful to know if other are using an iPod classic before for comparison

Buy and sell / Re: Looking for an E53 4.8is
« on: June 13, 2018, 12:20:31 AM »
The eBay one looks to be plenty of money for a 2004 gas guzzler, interestingly on last years MOT it failed on (seriously corroded) front brake pipes, 6 days later they were ,miraculously just on as an advisory. Logic says that if they failed they would have been replaced yet 6 days later they are still there and only corroded -doesn’t make sense!
I mention this because it’s just cost me about £700 to get the 4.6 completely re-piped in copper. Make sure you check all the brake lines on whatever you look at as its common at this age and a good bargaining chip.

The other one looks way over price wise to me, other 4.8 owners may disagree!

Problems / Re: Replace Door Carrier but door shut during the job

The door should still open if you pull the Bowden cable that you disconnected from the interior handle when you removed the door card
