Re: Red battery light on

It's going in on Thurs. I reckon it's the battery for some reason but I don't know why. Strange that an alternator would fail within 12hrs of the battery being charged..
At least I hope its the battery..

Red battery light on

This is not for my X5 but for our Range Rover sport supercharged. The car does not get used regularly for long runs--just school run etc so the other day I put a battery charger on it for about four hours just to give it a boost. The wife used the car twice yesterday for two runs of 600 metres each ...

Re: Rear tires are wearing crazy

Different rolling radius front and rear made my front diff make a funny clicking /pinging noise until I replaced the rear tyres. I have prestivo on the front and nexen on the back and have had minimal wear since fitting (18 months ago).

Omg the dark side..

I was so close to buying an 04 range rover vogue 4.4 today.. I was going to view another X5 but it got sold so the RR was next.
I know it's basically an X5 underneath with worse mpg and worse reliability but I left it and came home.
Dodged a bullet there I think..

Re: Winter Work

What vibration symptoms did you have? I'm not sure on mine if it is the torque converter/ flex plate or engine mounts. When the engine is warm and idling its is smooth as silk. However, driving at any speed but circa 2k - 3k rpm it feels harsh and buzzy. Starting from cold when in D or R but not mov...

Re: Winter Work

Have you driven it since doing the mounts? Is there any difference in the way it feels.

Re: Winter Work

Was changing the mounts on a V8? I'm thinking of doing mine as I've got a strange vibration.. How difficult is the job?

Re: Window regulator and vinyl wrap

Right. Fixed. The clips holding the cable to the slider were worn and when the window was moved up or down they were rotating thus giving the impression of slack in the cable. New set installed all good although I have my doubts as to how long they will last asthe y don't seem as well made as the ol...

Re: Window regulator and vinyl wrap

About the window.. Ive bought some regulator sliders and some clips so I'll take it apart at the weekend to see where the slack is. Anyone got any ideas first?

Re: Window regulator and vinyl wrap

Ive looked at the centre console removal to wrap the top part and it looks like a right load of hassle. I'm not sure if I'm in the mood for that..

Window regulator and vinyl wrap

Sorry the title is a bit odd.. First- my X5 has the silver highlight interior trim pieces and I am bored with them. I fancy doing a spot of vinyl wrap to update it a bit. Choices are - pretend carbon gloss, pretend carbon Matt or plain black Matt. I've just installed an M3 steering wheel which has t...

Re: tyres

I can confirm that different size / worn tyres front to rear can mess with the diffs. I had two new front Prestivos put on mine about a year before putting new rears on. During that time my diffs clicked and clucked when selecting R from D or vies versa. When all tyres were new (ish) the noise went ...
