Re: E83 3.0sd Exhaust/DPF Advice

Hi, That all seems worryingly expensive, what sort of mileage has it done? I have the same model and thought that the exhaust seemed to be quite robust. Is it possible that at some point, the DPF has been removed and the system badly welded up again? I would imagine that the top would get cut open r...

Re: Transfer case fluid change

I have to admit that when I changed mine, I did not plug it in to any electronic wizardry, I simply changed the fluid. I would be interested to know if it makes any difference beyond changing the fluid.

Re: Transfer case fluid change

Tony, If I remember rightly, I put a long piece of tube over the end of the smaller filler tube and simply squeezed the bottle forcing it along the tube and into the casing. I was lucky as I had a piece of clear tubing of the right bore to make a snug fit over the filler end of the bottle. Good luck...

Re: Transmission or transfer case?

I had this on my 3.0d X3, exactly the same symptoms, changed the fluid and well, what a massive improvement and like you, I can't quite work out why and can only put it down to the properties in the fluid breaking down.

Re: Transfer case fluid change

I stand to be corrected but I don't think this is necessary, I certainly didn't and the difference is as I say, chalk and cheese. The box seems so much smoother, with none of the juddering that I previously had under acceleration.

Matt.

Transfer case fluid change

If you haven't changed the transfer case fluid, I have to say, it is 20 minutes well spent. My X3 has just tipped over the 100K miles, I could feel what I can only describe as a mild stutter through the auto in first and second and changing the oil has eliminated it. What a massive difference! The o...

Re: Hello out there...

Hi, I just have the standard 17" rims front and back with matched tyres, I think this set up is a little easier on the drivetrain and probably on your wallet when they need replacing but good advice, thank you.

Hello out there...

Hello folks, I have recently purchased a 3.0d E83 X3. It's got a lot to live up to after many years of Saab ownership, so we will see how she works out. I do all my own maintenance and so far a lot of it seems fairly easy. I've had to fully service it and change the front calliper's after the offsid...
