Re: Warranty claim

Good result, and good on you for keeping your calm when faced with incompetence personified!

Bit worrying about a shock leaking after less than 2 years, and for that price I would have expected it to be made to military grade/indestructible at least!

Re: Nav question

I assume the latest & greatest iDrive is faster but does anyone use the touch screen? The OCD in me would have difficulties with the smears on the screen and not sure it is excellent to use while driving?

Re: Goodbye Run Flats

One of the changes I want to make to mine when the tyres need replacing. Mine are also staggered 20” and feel that there is too much tyre roar and “heaviness” to the way the tyres pitter patter over imperfections.

To the OP: did you get a space saver or will rely on road assistance?

Re: Coding help

I think I had the "M50D" logo in the instrument cluster, but playing around with coding it is definitely gone. Does anyone have the correct setting for this? I haven't managed to recreate it and every time I change the Instrument cluster logo the cluster resets and the onboard computer giv...

Re: Remap M50D
When you take it in for a service, BMW will upload their latest engine parameters which will probably overwrite your remap.....
Not very likely to be done during routine service, only if there is a specific recall or update (e.g. something like the VW emission cheat).

Re: 2016 plate X5 Msport runner boards

You would need to retrofit the SE side skirts as well as the running boards. In fairness, not really sure side boards would be that helpful and certainly an expensive exercise - you could carry a small step ladder with you at all times  :)) or teach the 6 year old to climb the X5

Re: Swap M50d for 650i Convertible?
It’s tempting. But knowing my luck, the arse will fall out of the residuals of the 650! Has anyone on here had one?
Tempting deal indeed! I am contemplating swapping to a 2016 M6 Competition package, with 10.000 km and 4 (!) years AUC warranty, but I have to thr...

Re: ZF gearbox service

They did a full scan and reset of the gearbox, and no errors were logged. Their remark was that the service interval is between 80.000 - 120.000 km, depending on driving pattern (high speed, pulling trailers, city-driving, etc) but that mine was consistent with motorway miles and therefore a pre-emp...

Re: ZF gearbox service

Not that this seems to interest anyone, but just wanted to update it: Had it done at ZF Brussels, which saved me a 600 km roundtrip. In the end I had the gearbox oil + filter + pan (725 euro), replacement of the mechatronic joints (120 euro), oil in transfer case (120 euro) and front and rear diff o...

They are not even that expensive, in the great scheme of things, and can be downloaded through the Connected Drive or USB from your friendly dealer.

Re: Remap M50D

Anyway, got it remapped today, with 429 bhp and 826 Nm (corrected), up from 355 bhp and 733 Nm. Quite a difference, the midrange acceleration is very different, yet it still feels linear, just turned up to 11. Gearbox service to follow next week to be on the safe side. http://i67.tinypic.com/1zptlpw...

Remap M50D

I have booked my M50D in for a remap on Friday. Most of these only make 340-350 bhp but do reach the stated 740 nm torque. Projected results are 420-430 bhp and 850 nm. I remember a recent thread where a remap ended with numerous problems but this thread seems to have been deleted. Anyone had a succ...
