If you feel the gears are holding for too long there was a gear box software update on these early cars to help them with better mpg

Find a well know independent that uses Autologic diagnostic to run some tests on
The normal garages will use cheap scanners on a pc or Snapon which are crap as they can not get into things like the gear box ecu

There can be many different reasons why a Diesel engine could do this after a remap Smoke is caused by over fuelling the engine many have worn parts like the injectors,airmass or so on The main thing is a remap can be adjusted to remove the smoke at full load if it is doing this Sent from my iPhone ...
