Search BMW transmission reset process. Very simple, ignition on (do not start engine). Throttle to the floor for at least 30secs. Turn off ignition. Take foot of peddle. My experience would suggest the gearbox software needs a reset - when was the last time the car did a significant mileage journey? The transmission fluid could likely do with a change also.
