I think N52 engine

I found an X3 I'm considering...high miles as con be expected...the family has to move the country so will let it go for 1500. Is the M54 engine in this car?
She says it doesn't start and was told I needs an alternator.
Any guidance given here to make the purchase?

Not happy with my progress or results . Kicking myself! Think I'm going to have to go back to square 1 again...my original frame but use the donor motor. Bulb was blown on the overhead light bracket.... Now there is leakage from the rear drain lines....never had leakages with the original frame........

I've had some what of the same experience...once putting the plug back (in the dark) I wasn't aware that all the pens didn't insert , leaving one window powerless and one pen crumpled... I was able to straight en it out with the tiny straw. Hopefully your G5 unit didnt get wet...located behind the f...
