Very,very true about FSH.  I'd prefer to buy a car from an entuasiast owner any day because odds are it was looked after properly.

Before buying anything you need to check the little filter on the bottom of the washer pump . PITA to get at but could be your problem if it's blocked,

Unfortunately the E70 rear wiper feed works on gravity as well as with the pump. If the hose frays or splits it will fill your cabin whether you use the rear wiper  ior not. Tell tale sign is if your washer fluid reminder comes on more frequently .

The plastic lens can be replaced and loads of them for sale on eBay . Vidéos on youtube showing how to do it. Just search E70 headlight lens replacement.

Had a previous X5 stolen on me so decided for future cars I would look after the anti theft myself. I've fitted one of these in the rear well hidden behind the panelling and ran the fuel pump wire through it . So at least for £20 on ebay I can remotely disable the car where ever it is with my phone ...

Definitely normal on an E70. The blower has no less than 13 electronic actuators attached to it which control all the vents. These are cheap pieces of crap normally made in Mexico and are prone to condensation which corrodes the electronics within. Only 1 can be got at from the footwell and the dash...
