Things to check are: power steering fluid level, power steering pump, any sign of leaks around the PAS system generally - the hoses were a known issue in 2004. Worth checking front wheel bearings and drive shafts for excess play or noise (rumbling, grinding).

Was it a retrofit item? If so, have a look at RealOEM and use the last 7 of your VIN to pull up the right model. The plug usually goes into a separate module that comes with the kit. Not having the module may be the problem you have?
