Re: Choices for a 7 seater 4x4

This was the big decision for us when we were looking. Narrowed it down to: Mercedes GL 320/450 CDI - V6 diesel is slow and struggles with weight. V8 is powerful, expensive running costs, moreso than a 3.0sd. Very luxurious inside, leather dashboard was standard etc, but old infotainment system. Als...

Re: M Sport 30d (LCI) mapping views

What's everyones view on Racechips? Seemingly reputable company and offer solutions where you don't actually have to actually remap the ECU, just have a chip that you can remove before going to BMW for work. Personally we don't have a BMW warranty so this isn't a concern, but have the feeling they r...

Re: Regarding staggered X5's/people running 20" wheels

I can't be sure if it's number 16 on that diagram, or if 16 actually contains what I want. Initially BMW did order a part in but it wasn't the right thing - it seemed to be something that went on the actual arch of the wheel itself and not the piece of film that goes on the doors. I will check this ...

Re: Hi All

Welcome!

Notice you had two E38's in the past, a 728i and 735i. Did you change to the 735i because you wanted a V8 or was the 728i a bit too slow?

Regarding staggered X5's/people running 20" wheels

BMW do not produce the film that goes on the rear doors to prevent them from picking up chips due to the nature of the wheels on the car. They seemed to have stopped producing the part - BMW themselves can not find any part for this, and there is nothing on RealOEM either. It's flapping about on the...

Re: Headlamp question???

Good answer but not quite. Inners are for show, there is a bulb within it but it mounts the bulb in a way to shine it around the two halo lights of the headlight unit itself. It's either a halogen bulb for pre LCI and a LED bulb for LCI in this mount, and it's the bulb you can change within the head...

Re: Have I achieved the unthinkable?

More power does mean more fuel, but the 3.0sd really can't stick to factory claims for MPG. I wonder how they achieved those figures, must have been doing 56mph or something on the motorway. Funny that it achieves 25mpg average in the X5, but same engine in the 6 series achieves 47mpg combined.

Re: Headrest replaced with DVD players

Only concern I have is that the headrests have an actual purpose in accidents, believe they move about or something which prevents whiplash if you were in an accident. There are cars without these, but the headrests are part of the supplemental restraint system, which is only for safety in accidents...

Re: Have I achieved the unthinkable?

Should have added more details - Was on a run back from Huddersfield and managed to achieve this sticking to 60mph, which is the highest I have ever seen in this car. Driving it off the motorway for about 1/4 of a mile made it 29mpg. I believe the 3.0sd is much more thirsty than the figures suggeste...

Blue Print allows you to obtain cars, probably for most cars as well. Signing up is free and it gave me the VIN of cars I was browsing for on auto trader, pulled from the plate.

Re: Which angel eye bulbs are best?

So the bulbs in the link below are the ones I bought and fitted to our E70 X5 with Xenon's. It's rated at 35W and is a H8 bulb. Overall I am very impressed with the result, certainly beats some much more expensive options I have seen on other BMW's. https://www.hids-direct.co.uk/mtec-h8-12v-35w-cosm...
