E53 bits for sale

Hi, After 11 years ownership, I'm selling my E53 4.8is (still under BMW Warranty) I have a number of bits that are for sale: 1. Intravee II with Alpine KCA 420 and cables. Never fitted. Bought from a fellow member on here many years ago. Open to offers. 2. Sub Enclosure for large single sub to fit i...

Re: Possible problem with LED lights

Sounds like a strange one. When I'm back in the UK I'll check the X5M and see if there is a difference between the Auto and On settings.

Re: Ambient Lightning Dim

I think the Ambient Lighting has improved with each model generation. I was really disappointed with the Ambient Lighting in my M5 - it almost had to be pitch black outside to see it. My brother had a 435d and his Ambient was much better... now I have an F85, its better again with lots of colour cho...

I've had mine about 3 months now... she's a keeper sorry mate.

Honestly a fabulous car, and you will not be disappointed. It just does everything, and does it very very well.

Re: E53 rare?

I don't see many of them around anymore either. There are a couple around where I live that have been absolutely ruined with aftermarket Chrome Trim around every part of the car, or terrible wheels put on etc. Mine is a rare one by the sounds of it, completely standard 4.8is still with BMW Warranty!...

Re: 4.8 expert required..

I had a serious rattle on mine from the front... it bothered me, but not that much as I've got BMW Warranty on it. It ended up failing. It was the Water Pump. I thought it was a pulley wheel or tensioner etc. but BMW replaced the Water Pump and was running sweet again. I haven't spoken to a BMW Tech...

Re: Old member - new 4.8is

I have one in the same colours… other than cosmetic marks, mechanically and electrically it is spot on. I've had BMW Warranty since I bought it (still going now) so whenever there is an issue, it just gets sorted. I'm looking to sell soon, so could I be cheeky and ask what you paid for yours so I ca...

Welcome! I'm just up the road...

Was looking at the M50d before I bought mine - excellent cars! Enjoy.

Re: E70 Which headlights to buy???

I'll give this a go on the old E53 I think. They do highlight the cars age at the moment, so shining these up will be great if I can do it for <£20!

I'll be moving the car on soon too, so I'm sure this will help. I wonder if it will bring up the Aluminum Side Skirts?

Re: E53 3.0d wont crank.

When running, did you check the charge voltage? It could be alternator on its way out. Otherwise my suggestion would be that the battery is needing replacement as it isn't holding charge...

Re: New X5M (F85)

Definitely not down at 10/12mpg figures... I've used mine mainly for local, and like I've said its not too dissimilar to my M5 or the 4.8 X5. For now the exhaust is good enough. The notes can't be heard as well in the cabin as they could in the M5, but it still makes a nice noise externally. I might...

Re: New X5M (F85)

Yes, when it was dropped off after a cruise up the motorway it was showing 25.4mpg... so not too bad if you take it easy.

Sounds like a nice spec, and a nice colour combo. Enjoy and hopefully as you say, no more issues.

Re: New X5M (F85)

If you make the X5M your next car, you will not be disappointed. I have only driven it a little, as I'm currently working overseas, but the few days I got with it were great. Really refined and comfortable, with an animal under the bonnet if you needed it. Fuel consumption doesn't matter with a car ...
