X3 vs X5

Post by Dave29 » Tue Jun 26, 2018 1:17 pm

Hi

guess this has been asked a lot...but this is also the right place for honest advice

got £20k to spend which gets me a nice X5 or a (slightly) newer X3

i suspect that an X3 is big enough ultimately but more space is always a good thing (coming from a Discovery)

both will be 3.0 M/Sport spec

is it worth considering an X3 or should I proceed direct to X5?

thanks in advance for your replies

Dave

Drive them both, for me there is no comparison the X5 is a quality build and the far better machine.

What an under estimated car that BMW made that didn't sell well, it can be bought at a bargain
price too.
I just found a great car on Auto Trader:

My car before the X5 was a 530 GT
In all honesty, The 5GT is the better car, values have plummeted on what should be strong residuals
Whilst in standard spec, their well equipped and it’ll make buying all the harder unless you do your research,
Built on the F chassis shared with the 7 series, the steering is a lot lighter, firms up with Sports mode but always felt disconnected, Suspension is Air at the back and struts up front, overall a perfect all round package a really effortless and comfortable cruiser,
Many critics suggest it’s ugly though with the F07, beauty really is in the eye of the holder!
The panoroof (std fit) has a terrible cover that delaminates and splits otherwise a very accomplished “big” car,
The rear tyres run at typical Bmw camber, as such inner tyre wear is normal....
20” wheels for looks though 19” is the perfect balance of ride and comfort
The reverse camera is essential.
