E70 a Fire Hazard - really?

Post by X5Sport » Wed Jan 12, 2011 8:00 pm

Just picked this up from a US X Owners site. Never heard of this being a problem or I think we'd have heard about it.

Can't think why a low speed collision would cause a vehicle fire but that is what is being reported as having happened. Lots of speculation no doubt, but it seems odd.

Press hype, or is there an issue here?

The link does not work. As an aside have not heard of any known issues yet.

A very sad story indeed. However a very poorly written article refering to 2 e53 fires when the main sorry is about an e70.

You might need to accept a cookie, but it's still working as of a few moments ago. Not sure why you can't see it.

@ Chompers - no it's not the best written article is it. ;)

Clearly the link work ok for me, however flyfs6, you aren't missing much to be honest and I wouldn't be popping down to Halfords and filling your boot with fire extinguishers just yet!!!

I've heard a few stories of X6s mysteriously catching fire, even while not being driven :?

Good opportunity for :fuelfire:
