Test drove E70 - 3.0d Msport

Post by pvr » Sat Jul 31, 2010 12:33 pm

When my X was in for the MOT, I took the above out for an hour test drive. It was actually a good thing to do, as it certainly made up my mind that I did not want that engine. The car itself drove very well, and everything was fine. The mirrors were HUGE compared to the E53 though ...

It felt a lot slower then my E53 3.0d and there was a distinct hesitation when pushing the pedal to the floor to overtake. They have now organised for me to drive the 35d to see how I get on with that.

Will also have a drive in the F11 in september as well as the new X3 in 35 shape when that is available. Not in any rush, so happy to play around for a bit.

ive got the 35d and i'd be interested in hearing what you think when you do try the twin turbo. My view is that its fast enough without "blowing your socks off". Comparable to a 3 litre 5 series i'd say... which is what i had before.

Been there, got that t shirt. The presence of 2 kids and a wife makes the porsche slightly impractical... unless of course you meant the butt ugly cayenne!

The E70 isn't much of a looker though is it - it just looks fat, particularly from the rear

E53 still looks good now

RRS the best looking

RRS is too blingy to be tasteful, and I find the e53 too dated these days.
