Computer Realtime MPG

Post by Monkeyman » Tue Feb 08, 2011 5:20 pm

I know this is a real stupid question but here goes.....

Is there a way instead of the silly needle that the car can tell me the LIVE MPG or is it only journey

If it is only journey....HOW THE HELL DO YOU RESET IT.......I feel like :headbang: as I can never seem to find it....

Told you it was a stupid question

You can get 'realtime' mpg via the OBC / BC button on the end of the indicator stalk, keep pressing the button. BC will show average mpg from the last time it was reset (to reset again, keep the BC pushed in until you get --.- in the display) mileage range left in tank, again this can be reset using the same method as before, instant mpg and just a blank screen.

HTH

And yes the mpg neddle is a waste of time and space  , would much rather have an engine temp indicator.

Ok, just been out in my car and I don't have 'realtime' mpg from the BC button  but Mrs Chompers has it on her 1er. Monkeyman, did you get a chance to check your set up, or any other e7x owner for that matter?

Afaik it's needle for real time and Consumption for average.

To reset average Mpg at start of a journey try this.On i-drive menues select until you get to computer & highlight one of the consumption values, then push and hold the idrive button and it will reset the value to -- or 0.0 (I cant recall which). Thats how it works on the i-drive on the new X3........I know because I have done this myself. Not sure if your system works ther same way. If in doubt it will be in your manual(s).

The press and hold of the BC stalk button worked this morning and as Chomps said it only does average over the journey and it is the needle for realtime......the reset works well so thanks for that chomps
