Who's wearing their winters, I am?

Post by Digidick » Thu Nov 29, 2018 12:59 pm

Fitted my 18's at the weekend, not looking too bad compared to the normal 20's but my spacers help.

and thanks to PVR on here for selling them to me.

Been trying to get mine done but busy with sorting glow plug issues I’ve not had time.
Mines are 19 with Goodyear ultra grip. Don’t really want to take off 20s cos there are nice.

Mine are Vredestein wintrac I think without looking. It rides so nice on the 18's wish the 20's were just as comfy :D

Had to fit 45mm spacers on the rear (thats 45mm each side) and I already had 20mm ones so they've gone on the front otherwise they just disappear into the arches.

Have you actually got issues or just a fault code? I think every BMW diesel comes built in with glow plug error codes.

The codes mean my dpf regeneration is not happening I’m at 50g of soot with no regeneration
I’ve forced it but won’t do due to errors on controller.

I’ll be putting mine on next week. I had wanted to put 19” on but unfortunately they don’t fit so no option but to stick with 20”. I know they will be better that what comes off but would have rather had narrower wheels.

20 with winters will look cool and be a lot better than any size with summers.

I tried my 19" winter wheels on my 50d yesterday and they fit over the discs and calipers. There's not much clearance but they do go on. The issue I have is that they don't have TPMS valves on them so they will give errors on the idrive. Don't know whether to get a set of 20" wheels with TPMS sensors or just buy some sensors for the ones I have.

Sensors would be the cheaper option. I think they are between £80-£90 each. Cotswoldbnwmini might do a site special price :D

Interesting, although 19”, I suppose the design of the rim can mean that it’s internal diameter is smaller on different wheel?

I bought a set of four of eBay for £160 that are pre programmed for the car, I’ll be fitting soon so I’ll let you know if they work.
