Whilst changing my fuel filter I discovered my E70 has the auxiliary heating installed and I’ve used it via the idrive timer but I’ve no idea if I can buy a remote control for it as I’m not sure where the remote receiver is situated on these E70’s??

And help on its location please?

Not the most helpful answer (joke or didn’t understand the question?) but I need to know where the remote receiver is on the car (if fitted) before I go out and buy a remote fob.

Think the remote was an added buy as it works through the idrive? You might want to try the app and pair it to your phone if it will ?

It doesn’t work like that on my 2010 LCi E70 as it’s not an app based idrive but uses a separate remote control unit that simply switches it on or off.

You need a kit like this in the link.
I have seen it done with a maplim remote for 20 to 30 quid tho so do some searching.

Cheers for the link but it’s not worth shelling out £200 for what it does. Looking about I think the receiver is built into the heater as I found a YouTube video of someone operating one remotely that wasn’t even fitted into a car and was just powered up.

The timer in the idrive is working fine for now.

Somebody on here got a maplins remote and switch and connected it to pin 1.

This sort of thing i think they used (not this one just an example).
An inline fuse to the jump point and pin 1 and away you go well in theory lol.
Not sure what amp you would need i just searched for 20amp.
