I'm considering swapping to smaller wheels (than 20") with bigger tyres (maybe 18 or 19") but want to ensure I'm still within BMW's options for this car. Does anyone know where I can find the minimum load rating for rear tyres? As it's a 7 seater do I need to run a staggered set-up?
The door pillar lists an 18" option (255/55), could this be an option?

If it states the above on the door pillar then it is an option.

Load rating should be on door post beside tyre size.

My 2007 E70 has always been on 255x50x19 107 on the front and 285x45x19 111 on the rears.

...and I should have said it's a 7 seater!

Thanks for all your replies. From experience, do you know if running 18" wheels would make the ride significantly softer and with less road noise compared to 20" wheels? Or would switching involve a lot of effort/cost for a minimal difference?
