S217A - active steering

Is anyone able to explain what active steering is and how it works? I can find lots of opinion about whether it’s any good but worryingly little about what is actually is! Is it a degree of rear wheel steering or is that nonsense?

I may be wrong but I think the ratio between the steering wheel input and steering angle is variable dependent on the vehicle speed.
