winter wheel/tyre question

Post by Jayx5 » Mon Nov 18, 2019 10:44 am

hi guys
I've found a really cheap set of winter wheels, they are continental winter contact ssr (self supporting runflat)
255/55/18, are 18inch suitable for a e70?

Hello,
Can I advise that you check the modelwher

Hello,
Can I advise that you check which model the wheels came from? They should be from an E70 as I understand those from an E53 have a different centre to the ones you need for an E70.
If they're different I have a set of 19 inch wheels that are from an E70 for sale, fitted with winter tyres (see the Buy and Sell section) and you could pm me to discuss price.
With best wishes,
Graeme

the guy selling them said there off an e70 but everyone seems to use 19 inch.
they are really cheap.

There's an 18" version listed.

Don't think 18" wheels fit over M calipers though. Get a part number from the seller and run it thru realoem against your vin #, just to be sure.

The doorpost sticker on my sd lists 18's and it has the bigger 365mm discs so check yours :D

Hello Jay,
Just to reiterate, check which model of X5 these wheels come from. The internal diameter of the centre of the wheel must match the diameter of the lip on the hub or the wheel won't go on or will be too big and unsafe.

I believe those from an E53, X6 and X5(F15) are different to an E70.

Best wishes,

Graeme

Its always wise to check and be sure, but it appears this style of wheel for the E53 was only available in 20".
Best check is a part number into realoem and look on the door plate to check for 18" wheels being listed.
Personally i would prefer 19" but for the few months or even weeks they may be used, why not.
