Advice appreciated as I finalise spec of 40d!

Re assist dangerous is probably a bit harsh but it can be a bit dim witted sometimes which is not handy whilst travelling at speed. It can dim the lights to quickly sometimes and also too slow to put back on. I assume the lci models are the same but it is a double prod of the stick to over-ride sensor which can mean a lot of distance travelled at speed. As I say overall I like it other times it was frustrating. In the scheme of things it is cheap so give it a punt.

I just cannot see the benefits of comfort access in fact I really cannot see the point of at least 60% of options, maybe it is my age. I have been caught out in the past with so many vehicles over speccing and trying to find reasons to use. I think any option you like you should go and test drive vehicle with option any bmw will do and just see how you may use or what use you will get out of it. I personally thought HUD display was the tits but really could not see the benefit in it, I have been driving cars for years and use to looking at the dash. I think boot close is not a bad option although which is on an escalade which we use when in states but find slamming shut far easier & quicker. The only option I wish I had got was a tow bar so I could have a bike rack but in the end just got a boot liner so I can put bike in back for my weekly trip (I wish) to the downs. I suppose long of short get options you need other than options you think are really cool.

Wow!, am I missing something, why drive an X5 at all, when a car ie 3 wheel robin does the same job. Was it a BMW boot liner or a mickey mouse boot liner off of ebay?
Do you mean options he thinks are cool, or, you think are cool, or, I think are cool, the whole point of options & choice, is yours, his, or my choice. You make it read like you don't have it so it's not worth having.

Truth is I don't need any of the options, let's be honest. I'm just looking forward to (quite!) a few fun features in the car that I know I will really enjoy using from time to time. Common sense obviously says to go easy given their high cost, but sometimes you have to say what the heck!!

Bringing it back to my earlier question, are the extended storage / adaptive fixing system useful or useless?!

I don't. The diesel is much slower, the hybrid introduces lag on acceleration, more expensive for same spec (even mats are an extra!) and most importantly, there's no seven seat option.

The build quality of the Porsche Jeep does not do it any favours (Previous Model) in fact I would go as far as saying they are a load of rubbish. Colleague generally runs them but had enough with all the problems and how the vehicle literally fell apart over 3 years, warranty was good. The build quality of the BMW is excellent this is my first one so I am not a specialist but extremely pleased with vehicle.

The new one is so much better than the old one. I considered the old one before this x5 and the x5 beat it hands down.

I now feel the roles have reversed and the Porsche is the far better car. I had one for a few days (there is a post on here somewhere about it)

The interior is to die for and the ride and handling are far superior to the x5. If I wanted another suv(which I don't) then it would be the Porsche n

I have not heard too much about the new model although dealer (West London) told me the Hybrid is pants and don’t waste my time looking at it. It will be interesting to hear some more about Cayenne when more reviews are available, bold statement that it beats the X5 hands down though is that current model or previous?

I had the V8-I'm on phOne at min so not going to look for my review but feel free to search

Would imagine cayenne diesel is remappable as it is the audi engine which I know is possible.

Should bring it close to the 40d which is not remappable, unlike mine that is and is beyond the 40d outputs now

The amount of posts you have would take me all day to find review please feel free to forward when you have time, personally though I think the interior has far too much going on compared to the X5. I would still go with new X5 any day I liked the previous turbo though but just could not look at vehicle, for me Porsche should stick to the 911 greatest car ever made.

I agree re Porsche. This shouldn't be their Market but it works for them.

I'm not a Porsche fan but acknowledge that they do make good driving cars but I would never buy one just because
It has a porsche badge

A friend of mine really wanted a cayman but for all the wrOng reasons ie he wanted the Porsche. He is not a fast driver so it would be totally wasted on him. In the end he took my advice and bought a new Z4 which he loves.
