X6 tailpipes - change to 50i type from round type.

Post by X5Sport » Fri Dec 31, 2010 10:59 am

I rather like the look of the 50i tailpipes and just wondered if there's an official kit to change them? RealOem lists a possible retrofit kit, but is it any good and how major a job is it to fit?

Are there any disadvantages in terms of engine breathing, I'm assuming not as it seems to fit after the rear silencer?

I remember someone getting a 40d was told by BMW that it has a different fitting on its tail pipes so the BMW ones won't fit, I think they need to be moddified to get them on so its not a out of the box and on soloution.

Spheroids..... :( Have to think of a different approach. Interesting that a retrofit kit 'appears' to show it as being possizble. I thought there might be a catch with the pipe diameters. I'll have to go talk with the dealer and see what they can tell me (I think I know the answer to that one

Now I am all ears. I notice in the US they get these tailpipes on the 35i now as an option. I'll go talk to parts when I pick the X6 up from the Body Doctor next week..........and let people know - assuming I haven't had a heart attack from the cost.

Can you post a pre-change picture as well so the difference is clear?

It is a compliment about the car, not you or your poor driving standard :)

X6 tailpipes - change to 50i type from round type.

Post by flyfs6 » Sat Jan 01, 2011 8:47 pm

If these fit, maybe we could do a group buy if there's enough interest. Through another forum Sytner offer 15% off, and the last time I checked it covered these (might change if margins have changed).

Through a GB we could save a bit more perhaps.
