Soon to be X5 F15 40e owner

Post by Neilsafc » Thu Mar 29, 2018 5:05 pm

Just a quick hello. I am leaving my Mercedes GLC after 6 months of garage trips. Crabbing issues and squeaking brakes meant more time in the garage than on the road. It was a beautiful car but an agreement has been reached with Mercedes to enable me to get into the 17 plate X5 40e. I hope the pic I took today at the garage in Newcastle works. I pick her up Saturday. I wasn’t expecting the black wheels as they have added these on since I originally seen the car online but I’m sure they will grow on me.

She has 9000 miles on the clock and is pretty stock bar a panoramic roof and the change in wheels now. Looking forward to the hybrid experience as well so hope to add to the discussion on that.

Hi all and hope to enjoy a good forum.

Nice one, Neil. I guess they probably had to refurb a wheel or two, and decided that painting them black would look better & probably cost less.

Love white cars ! It will keep you busy washing it.
What made you go for the 40e?

Using it for work and a lot of my clients have plug in points that I can make use of.
I have been keeping a diary for the last 3 weeks since I have been thinking about it and trying to be honest with when I would plug in etc and the split is pretty much 50/50 petrol electric. It’s all up in the air until I get it though.
Home wall charger being installed next week will help.

Hi it is great that the 4x4 hasn't been left out with the green party, I looked at buying a new one last year but electric points are a problem where I live, the concept is a very good one, economy amazing and at the end of the day it is built by BMW.

That’s my thoughts on it. I have been thinking of jumping on the hybrid route for a while and the x5 has always been the dream car for me. The opportunity for my work to pay for most of it and to pay the petrol was too good to pass up. The glc has been a monumental pain for me, I am good at waiting in a garage getting coffee but it was happening too often.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Congrats on you 40e and it will be good to hear your thoughts on these cars as there are not many members on the forum with them.

We that was a bit of a damp squib of a day quite literally. It’s never stopped raining and I don’t have an X5 yet. I received a phone call this afternoon from the dealer to say they couldn’t open the fuel cap door, apprently there is a button inside the car but it just won’t open and they don’t have any technicians in today so it’s been put off till Tuesday. Absolutely gutted, to be fair they have given me a 4 series gran coupe to drive in until Tuesday but it has taken the shine off the car that’s for sure.

Hi

Thats a pain but roll on Tuesday and then you'll see how much better the X is over the 4 series you've been given.

That’s not a good start, given your issues with MB. Let’s hope it’s a one off.

The issues continue. Apparently they couldn’t open the fuel flap again today and need to order a part for delivery tomorrow and hopefully fitted tomorrow. So I’m still in the 4 series loan car until then. Not a good start after all the issues and MB. Very frustrating.
