Macan S loan car

Post by pvr » Wed Nov 26, 2014 11:27 am

Got this one today as a loaner, and am a little disappointed with the engine I must say.

This is a Macan S Diesel, very nice drive position but a huge turbo lag. To the point that when you are at a roundabout, it is a case of nothing, nothing, then all the power. Makes the drive not very pleasant really. Driving along is fine, annoying parts are the lane control feature which buzzes each time when you get too close to the centre of the road - bit difficult to avoid when on country lanes really.

Flat out acceleration is very fast, but because of the turbo lag it is not that nice to drive in normal traffic though when you just want to pull away whilst driving slowly.

Enough buttons ....

In summary, it is nowhere as nice to drive as the X5.

Which is why BMW fitted twin dissimilar sized turbos!  You would have though Porche would know that too.... :o

These seem to be selling like hot cakes too, must admit BMW are really good at eliminating turbo lag.

What's the Macan name all about - missed that one.

6BMW likes his one, wonder if he's noticed any turbo lag?

Problem is if Porsche didn't make the Macan/Cayenne they would have been dead and buried years ago as a company which is sad in itself, but the fact is only the very few buy sports cars anymore which I admit does seem crazy.

I appreciate that, it is very true

Unfortunately Porsches are generally bought by complete muppets (such as PVR) who have no idea how to drive or appreciate the engineering. They just buy it for the badge so they can put their keys down on the pub table.

I bet PVR looks a right twat driving that thing, particualrly in white.

Don't miss the turn off the A23 PVR otherwise you will end up in Brighton and you will find a load of rent boys in the back of your car.

Why particularly in white? What are you implying about drivers of big white cars?

Sport mode is very, very jumpy - think 535dboy with a spanish pepper up his backside type jumpy. Does not make a nice driving experience, obviously I don't notice that in my manual 911 in sport mode as I decide when to change gear.

I took this car to Eastbourne today to a customer, even the sea gulls did not like it as they did not drop their loads on it.
