Raj's 335i - The Build

Post by Raj » Sat Jan 03, 2015 12:49 am

After passing the Beast (the X5 lol) to my wife I decided on something a little quicker and more tuneable.

So this particular motor was owned by a couple of previous members of E90post which means it's saved me a bit of cash for once as it's already modded lol.

Unfortunately (which is unlike me) I don't have any pictures from when I picked her up, but sadly she was absolutely filthy so probably a good thing there's no pics looking so sorry.

Looked pretty much like this though:

Image

but had the Eisenmann tips sticking out and CM's style 359 reps on.

Now me being be, I picked the car up at 11am and duly drove straight to another E90post member and chopped the replica 359's in for some genuine 313 Performance rims.

Then spent the Sunday giving her a good clean to end up like this:

  • ETS intercooler
  • AR Catted downpipes
  • BMS intakes
  • Eisenmann exhaust
  • Evolve map
  • M Sport steering wheel with DCT paddles
  • Alpine sound upgrade
  • Full CIC/DAB/Combox

So then it was time to bin the standard AE bulbs for LEDs:

and fit my performance grills:

New Years Day modding....

Got this for a good price: Genuine M3 leather CF trim

Comparison to the wrapped 3M CF effect:

Also swapped out the BMS filters for Burger Tuning ones (as I'd already purchased them before even buying the car lol):

I do have plenty of other bits to post up once they start and I do already have a little stock pile of items to go on lol

Looking forward to seeing how this build comes on.

I am looking to get a second car in the next couple of months - going to be a dad in March so the X5 will do the donkey work and I want something nice for myself as a treat. Would have got something sooner, but have moved to a much bigger house and it needed a lot of work doing to it...

E90's can be made to look very nice. Will be on my list of cars to consider if I don't go brand new on lease through the business.

Already looking better, I know the guys at evolve from my Z3MCoupe days, they certainly know what they're doing.
As for the filters, will they not get "heat soak" being open to the engine compartment.

I wouldn't hesitate recommending an E9* as I'm loving mine so far.

I'm lucky now as get to drive both lol

Tbh I'm not keen on Evolve and I asked em to put the old file back on and the response I got was we don't have it so want to charge me £100 to remap it back to stock.... >:( don't think much of their maps tbh but it's personal preference.

As for the filters. Yes you will get a little heat soak but they still seem to offer better breathing.

Great stuff Raj  8) really looking forward to following this thread and I have always loved the 335i and I foolishly thought they would be worse on fuel than my 330i so I didn't get one but from what I have read from other owners the fuel economy is pretty much identical if not a little better on the 335i.

Enjoy it.  :)
