6er new to me

Post by sapphireblack » Sat Nov 28, 2015 10:59 am

OK guys just some quick grabs as i'm late for a meeting.

Its obviously very very different to an E53 but sleek, quiet and once i stop banging my head on entry  ::) i'm sure it will prove to be a nice acquisition. 2007 630i FSH and just 32000 miles

Very very nice.  Always fancied one but the rear leg room is worse than the E46!

If I had the chance I would go for a 640 GC.

I was about to comment the bonnet was open and though we might get an engine shot.... :)

SB your name needs to be changed! Lovely colour - will be less of a job to keep it looking so clean.

Love these - would have a 635d if I was getting one. Been in the 645i and the 650i, both rocket ships. Very smooth cars.

Congratulations and keep posting. :ok:

Congratulations on the new car. I had a convertible 630i a few years back and really enjoyed it.  Like Richard, love the current GC.

Here's to many happy miles ahead.  :)

Always liked those facelift alloys, but I prefer the new 6/6 gran coupe over this model..

One of the reasons i went for a 6 is i don't need the rear seats which as you say has basically non existent leg/foot room despite the car being around 6" longer than the X. I genuinely cant remember when i had a rear passenger in the X though and concluded the 6 is a cruiser for gentleman of a certain age....... and i qualify.

The diesel versions i looked at briefly but concluded it was noisy and derv always smells bad, neat or burnt. 3.00 litres is more than enough for me nowadays and its novel having an MPG display starting with '2'.

I did ponder the facelift models too of course but the example i bought was a good deal, has a great spec and lower mileage than many younger AUC dealer offerings, most of which were actually quite scruffy and at least £3K more too.

I'm happy with my decision but i still have to decide whether the X finally departs or i do a bit of summer/winter car swapping?

Thanks for posting, they are indeed excellent cruising cars.

Is the long term plan to keep both cars or did you trade the X in?

630i reportedly better steering response & handling as lighter up the front end than the V8 a nicer sound than diesel.

Regardless of what else exists in the used BMW line up (including for a larger spend), I am genuinely pleased for you & glad you are happy & with your long awaited E63.

I'd love to go back to a petrol - might even do that when/if the time comes.

SB is the satnav like a new time warp compared to the X?

Steering is indeed very light compared to the X, it stiffens up at around 45mph and is taking some getting used to at low speeds, i'm almost over-steering it  ::)

Navigation is another world even compared to the upgraded Mk4 in the X and the I-drive is so comprehensive its going to take a while if ever to learn all its features. Nice touches are inbuilt facilities to switch on certain confirmation lights, indicator flash for lock and unlock for example. There is so much more to learn and until or unless it comes into full service over the X as an 'everyday' vehicle, its all a learning curve each time i drive it. Currently less than 300 miles since i bought it at the beginning of the month  ::)

The X is still a nice car and despite being nearly twice as old holds its own but the technology is very different (to me anyway) and a major advance.

Will the X still go? If i had a double garage, the short answer is no, i'd keep it. I'm seriously contemplating having the drive widened though to allow two vehicles to pass but logic and common sense says i don't need both even though they're very different.

My first job, aborted earlier  :( was to fit some nice white LED angel eye bulbs but BMW love making a simple task really difficult it seems. My fat hands can't access where i think the connections are and Googling and Youtube have some info but not enough to help, so that's been a frustration today It seems the wheel arch liner may have to come out  >:( >:(

Oh well, its supposedly fun along the way.

I would hope so at 3x the price  ;)

This looks like a great find though for an e63. Looks very tidy.

Its a lovely engine in the 630i same as what`s in my 330i, what I love about this shape 6 series is how light it is for a fairly big car and I believe there are only a few kilo`s difference between the 630i and 330i which I think is awesome.

The 640d we have is over 250kg heavier than the 330i so it just shows how much lighter the previous 6 series is, a relative of mine has just had a black 2006 630i and he is over the moon with it.

Enjoy yours  :)

Very nice example. Looks immaculate! Was toying with a 645/650 before I got my 335i. Still toying with the idea of getting an M6 in the next yr or so when the 335i goes.

I like it alot. Congratulations!

Lovely car, always fancied one.

One fine day I will go for the new model! Now that it's 4 door it's easy to justify with kids too :P

Prices still very high.

Time to change the X really, might go off brand for a change 8)
