3 days and counting
The Bentley has arrived at the dealership.
Iain is off over there to detail it on Friday morning; collecting around mid afternoon.
Hoping for some top down weather
Should be plenty of pics on Finer Detailing's website a day or two later.
The King is dead (no not Bob Crowe) long live the King

Enjoy the new ride, although I must say that if I were in a position to spend £200k ish on a couple of top end cars, I wouldn't be too impressed if a detailer was able to make a noticeable difference even before the cars left the show room. Surely the dealerships are a little embarrassed by the fact.

The dealer cleaners are crap and the products are very poor value for money.
Got my guy in to the Aston garage and the sales manager was ok about that
A detailer will spend more time and apply far superior products than the normal autoglym rubbish.

Re: 3 days and counting
Yes that makes sense, but if I was selling such expensive cars, I would employ a detailer to ensure the new cars were the dogs nuts. What are we talking here for detailing a new car? £100-150, I would even suggest a detailer doing a deal with the dealer to get his name out their to those that don't appreciate just what a detailer can do.

My Porker will be getting the £800 treatment, just like the X and the M had.
But then again - I will never have to wax it.

Re: 3 days and counting
Don't get me wrong, Bentley were more than happy to get their valeters to prepare the car to the usual high standards. However, I would rather have my detailer take charge from day one and start things off the way they will continue.
Things will no doubt be a tad easier with the Bentley as it's delivered cloaked in some huge great bodymask affair to protect the paintwork, but despite this, like many other dealers in the area I have bought cars off they still want to sell me the 400 quid Supaguard treatment, which is shat and about 8 quid on EBay!!
With potential profit margins like that, and some slick advertising leaflets extolling the virtues of said product to a buyer who can readily afford it and is ignorant to the alternatives out there, they don't need to offer a proper detail.
Some detailers can spend a week doing a car and charge upwards of a grand depending on type of product used.
Iain prefers G3 glasscoat and Swissvax Mermaid Tear putty (or some rare and expensive bollocks like that).
100 quid will get you a Romanian drive through hand car wash and vacuum, all performed with same brush/chamois as used all week on a variety of cars and lovingly shaken out when they fall on the floor.
Iain has a specific batch of waffleweaves and m/f cloths used solely on my car (am I sad or what?!)

It sound like a good idea to treat you new car the way you want from the start, saves having to undo work that is not up to the standard you want and if your spending that much on a car the cost of the detailing is just an investment in it.
Have a good day Friday when you pick it up and look forward to the pics, of the motor that is, not Friday night although they could be just as interesting )
