what is the widest 18'' tyre that will fit on a e83 as i have a set of x5 alloys with 18x255x50 tyres that need changing to fit with no rubbing or throwing the speedo out i was thinking of 245x50 anybody know if this size tyre will be ok.

Only use what is stated on the BMW tyre plate on the B pillar. You need to keep the rolling radius correct or risk breaking the transmission.
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
