Parking sensors

Post by buzz » Sat Feb 23, 2019 8:30 am

Both my front and rear parking sensors have suddenly stopped working.....the green light on the button still glows continuously and there is no beep as you get when an individual sensor goes down. tested with a snap-on scanner and its says everything ok. manual test of the acoustic sounders using the same scanner also works fine......anyone any ideas???? its a 2006 3.0d

It could be a faulty PDC Module....unusual for all the sensors to suddenly stop working.

Snap-on scanner once told me i had a bad coil pack on cylinder 8 causing misfire.
Problem was it was an Audi v6tdi.
Can you get it scanned with bmw kit just in case.

yes...that was my thoughts, but I thought it would have thrown up the blinking light and tone on the switch. co-incidentally when I took out the pdc module for a quick visual check and spray with contact cleaner, the battery box had about an inch of water in it :o not quite up to the module but would certainly swish about and wet it.....

How does water get in there, the container is made of rust free plastic. There is a mountain of electric bits in there

that was my next question after I spent 10mins looking for a drain hole....can only think that something must have spilled in the boot but I have never noticed anything. it has the hard liner fitted so I think I would have seen something......

Check in the corners where the lights are, could be the gaskets around the light lens
