Shudder..

Post by Themoog2 » Mon Sep 09, 2019 11:11 am

I was on the A1 today at slightly over 70mph (officer..) and some donut pulled out in front of me so I had to brake rather sharply.
The car and steering wheel shook like mad. Felt like the whole front end was shaking.
I tested it again at 60 and it was ok.
Thoughts?
It's not thrust bushes as they are poly. Warped discs I reckon..

I would imagine it was the ABS kicking in.

No, the abs only works if a skid is detected. I didn't skid - just braked hard from 80 err.. 70mph.

+1 on the warped discs, I have a dial test indicator which can measure the run out. My other half had similar symptoms on her C class (2003) which wasn't noticeable around town but was pretty scary slowing down from motorway speeds!
