Pelican Parts do loads of ' how to's' for different BMW  cars, it is an American site, but very helpful.

The photos in that pelican thread are great, thanks. I've an infuriating bass rattle in the drivers side door that I'm going to investigate and need to get the door card off to do so.

Anyone know the part number for the clips so I can have a few on stand by?

Did mine on Wednesday only took around 30 to 40 minutes easy job to do just waiting for a new handle now as someone had done a bodge job on the end that twists out it had been broken and a screw put in it badly.
As for the clips i got 10 of them in case ad delivery was quick.

Edit/Tip
Put mine back together and the locking didn't work turned out to be one of the plugs on the window switch.
It had gone in and the locking tab went over but it wasn't properly home but i did it the hard way by taking the panel off again before i found it could have just popped the switch out  :-[

There are two different types listed for the door cards, BMW numbers are:

Clip with seal ring 51418224781 x 6 ,
Clip with washer 51418224768 - think there's a dozen or so on each door card

Door Handle Carrier  Left 51218243615
Door Handle Carrier Right 51218243616

The clips were cheap enough from Cotswold BMW on here, the last eBay ones I bought for the boot trim weren't quite the right size, so far I've found BMW ok on price for the little bits

2 Fell out when i took the door card off and went under the car so out of my reach.
I used 2 out of the ones i listed and no problem fitted the same as the rest none are a tight fit easy to fall out.

I had my door card off at the weekend to investigate the door speaker fault and now the airbag light is on. I had the plug disconnected at the door while I had the ignition on (to check the speaker). I assume this is where I’ve gone wrong? I know on an Audi/VW if you turn the ignition on with an airbag disconnected it will put the light on,are BMW’s the same?

Super, thanks. I'll just wait until its next in with the mechanic and let him do it. Unless it can be done with INPA.

Folks, my door handle still opens the door, but it can take 3 or 4 pulls before anything happens. Is this likely to be the carrier or could there be something else gone? From what I’ve read over the page everyone else’s handle has literally  just broken.

Hey all

I carried out the lock replacement as expertly pointed out in this feed, Thank you.

Initially all 4 doors locked and unlocked with the remote but the next day the central locking now only works for the remaining 3 doors, I find myself having to unlock/lock the drivers door with the key in the new lock?

I tried to resync the locking mechanism by the "ignition key to point 2 and the top then middle button of the remote control" and the method works but it remains just the 3 other days working off the remote.

Any ideas?
>:D
Thanks
