interior full valet

Post by H-M3 » Wed Apr 19, 2017 1:54 am

Our X5 was previously owned by a farmer so you can imagine the interior how muddy it is. I was hoping to give it a full wash or steam clean and was wondering if I can remove the front seats for better access. Would I need to recode the electric seats if I took them out or would it be ok to replug them after clean?
thanks

The seats will be ok to remove and no coding required to refit
However
The battery will have to be disconnected and allow sufficient time for ecu to shutdown (circa 16minutes) otherwise you will get SRS Airbag fault when the wiring is disconnected under the seats.

ECU will immediately shutdown on Battery disconnect...
There are no internal battery backups for most functions.
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....

To make sure the car systems have discharged then after removing the battery connections from BOTH terminals, touch the -VE & +VE leads together.  Gets rid of any stray build up anywhere.
