Headlights

Post by Baker » Fri Dec 22, 2017 11:02 am

Driving to work this morning in the X5 for a change and realised how poor the headlights  are on dipped beam. I just thought they were set too low on the dash. To my surprise there is no way of altering them!!! Don’t drive it very often and had not noticed before. Can I alter them under the bonnet? They only give about 15feet of good vision  >:(

Assuming you have halogen set up, there should be a dial by the light switch, allbeit this only alters the up & down axis to counteract different loads
The Halogen lights have always been poor!

Best course of action would be bulb upgrade
Osram Nightbreakers or Philips extreme are said to be amongst the best!

Could be the auto-levelling is misreading the car as being heavily loaded so it is pushing the beam down too far.

No height adjuster means you should have Xenon HID lamps.

The lights should go through an automatic height adjustment cycle when turned on.  If it isn’t happening then the system isn’t working.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
