Screen only shows current map position and not TV picture

Hi all
Have bought a (new to me) E70 2007 SE but for the life of me cant get the TV to work.
I can select a channel, I can hear the sound from it, If I change the Contrast or brightness I can even see the TV picture but as soon as I go to just the Video all I can see is my current position on the navigation map. and the "computer" info on the right hand side.
Any ideas gratefully accepted, especially if I'm just being thick.

Might sound daft but have you got the hand brake on.

mine occasionally does it put when i try again few days later it okay. never had chance to sit and work out what was wrong

Hi, thanks, yes thought about that too as maybe thought it was moving but definitely on and in park, very frustrating to try and sort while pacifying complaining kids and trying to use the damn idrive which could have been a challenge on the Krypton Factor (showing my age).
