Electrical problem

Post by Olliefrom83 » Mon Nov 02, 2020 4:50 pm

Afternoon guys

I had a call from the wife earlier saying the indicators suddenly stopped working on the car

When I got I checked, no indicators, rear windows not working, headlights on all the time, no dash lights.

On more investigation, indicators are working, but not showing on dash, rear windows completely dead, and the window lock button is doing nothing, no interior lights, however the reading lights are working and so is the ambient lighting. Elec seats all working, mirrors working and folding, high beam and all other lights working, but nothing on dash! Could this be a fuse? Having looked all seem fine?

I have scanned the car, errors below using bimmergeeks ProTool.

I thought this might be the FRM, however I can communicate with the frm?

Really need some help

Cheers

Id give the battery a full charge as funny things happen when power drops of on these cars and you seem to have things working one minute and not the next , after that check it is actually charging when running :driving:

Funny you should say that, i got something out the boot just a short while ago and heard a gong, and the battery symbol was showing on the dash.

Going to put it on the ctek for a couple of days and see what’s what!

Cheers

Does anyone know what fuse does the ambient lighting, it’s not switching off.

Noticed red glow from car, went and looked and the ambient lights are still on, the car was locked about an hour ago!

Cheers

Unsure on the fuse but definitely might be the issue with draining the battery.

As mentioned the battery draining would definitely start throwing loads of different errors.

Put the charger on and see what happens.
Or even disconnect the battery and charge it that way you will reset everything at the same time.

Just an update on this

Car has been on trickle charge circa 2 weeks, couldn’t switch off interior lights etc and after waiting for an appointment for the car to go in, today was the day it went in, less than an hour after drop off, call to say the footwell module was fried, £600 to replace and code. Given the go ahead, and a couple of hours later had a call to say car is ready for collection!

All seems well for now, in the space of just over a month the car has caused my bank balance to drop by around 2k, so hoping no more surprises before Christmas.

Thank you for everyone’s input.
