Tuning

Post by henrym3 » Sun Sep 25, 2016 3:47 pm

Been in touch with Jason for a chip tune, and am getting it done in Exeter. Unfortunately he no longer does the Simota carbon intake. However I have found another source for the Simota which arrived Friday, fitted Friday, sounds great when you put your foot down and pretty normal at steady throttle. Well impressed, just waiting on the garage in Exeter to make contact. BTW the Simota comes with an additional filter for the auxiliary air pump.
Am also waiting on some tubing which will fit to standard air intake to take as much cold air to the mouth of the Simota as possible.
QUESTION
For all you clued up blokes, On the standard air intake box there is a vacuum tube which opens an additional flap to draw in additional air. The tube comes from an electric valve which also operates the cold start valve linked to the auxiliary air pump. What is the purpose of the valve on the air box?? and when would it open.
Cheers in advance
