Remapping and DPF

Post by martin33100 » Tue Mar 14, 2017 9:30 pm

I have run a few remapped diesels in the past and still have a tuned VW T5 but non have had DPF's or the DPF's have been removed.
As the MOT is due to be having a DPF particle test added sometime in the future I don't really want to remove the DPF from our E70 but I may get it remapped.

Has anyone run a remapped 3L diesel for a long time with a DPF with no issues?

Hi Martin

I was thinking about a racechip because it can be easily removed and I would not want to screw up my warranty.
And then again I have the 40d and it goes like a train so in two minds
I have provisionally reserved a Superchips Bluefin through my local Euro Car Parts at a much more reasonably price, if it works out well I will PM you the details if you want.

I think the answer to that question is yes.  There are a few who have had remaps done by Jason (jason@bwchiptune) on the Forum, but the majority leave them as is.

One of the issues, especially with the E70 and newer is that if they go to a main dealer then the servers in Munich detect the remap, assume there is an error and overwrite it automatically.

BMW have also started locking the ECU meaning it must come off the car to be done - unless that little wrinkle has now been got around?
I thought that was the case with most people leaving things standard on here, can't say I use the dealer anymore or ever have done, I work on engines most days at work and now I have the dealer ISTA D and ISTA P sofware I hope to fix most things myself when they come up on the X5.
I am still a petrol head at heart, even my VW T5 sportline has 287hp/625nm under the bonnet but that's has more than just a simple remap done to it, hope to be pushing 300hp+ if I ever get time to fit my bigger injectors.

I have the DTUK CRD2+ and Pedalbox on my X3 3.0sd and have no complaints.

I have tuned many bmws in my years as a bmw independent and bmw tuner  and I have proven that there is no need to remove the Dpf

Remember the companies that recommend removing the Dpf by telling you you will get more power don't tell you the truth that your car will be illegal to use on the roads, you will loose lower end torque and they every one they do they will sell your Dpf internals for cash to put in there pockets
These companies will also recommend removing the Dpf when there is nothing wrong with the Dpf system only to make more money from you
