Buying Advice on 40D M Sport

Post by magicgreg » Sat Mar 31, 2018 8:51 pm

Evening All,

I have put a deposit down on an F15 X5 40d M Sport, registered Jan 2015, 1 owner, 26k on the clock. It has some nice options such as third row seating, surround view, HUD, reverse camera, tow bar, 20" 469 alloys, comfort seats etc

I cannot wait to take delivery which will be in approximately two weeks time, I'm getting the X5 from Williams in Rochdale, whom to date have been very helpful as you would expect.

My question is that I am completely new to the X5 scene so am unaware of any common fault or problems to look out for. I've tried searching on here and been through 20 odd pages in this section, however, I cannot find a buyers guide.

Therefore can anyone list what to look out for, common issues and problems, anything visually to observe or hear when on the move etc

Any assistance would be appreciated!

12 months in from new and not one single problem!

Oh yes one issue that may not affect you, the chrome is starting to come through on my black exhaust tips. Notified BMW who are looking into it for my first service in two weeks time.

Enjoy the new ride and don't forget to post the pictures :camera:

Already got it booked in to have the wheels done gloss black and I've not even taken delivery yet.
Toying with the idea of the M Performance splitter, diffuser and skirt decals, costly but in my opinion look the business.

Sounds a nice spec. Look forward to seeing the pics!
I'm on my 2nd F15 (though neither were 40D). Not aware of any recurring problems.

I almost bought that car the other week. Instead I went to Sheffield and bought a dec 2015 with 11k on it. Williams Rochdale were great when I bought a 535 from them in 2015.  I had a lot of problems with it but Garry the service manager was fantastic. I’d buy another car from them in a heartbeat.

I had a deposit down on it after 3 days of it landing online so you must have been quick!
Did you go and see/drive it?

That's reassuring to hear, Pete the sales executive I've been dealing with has been spot on this far.
