No more scratches.....

Post by RichM50d » Sun Apr 01, 2018 7:18 pm

Just had the car detailed over the last two days by Definitions Detailing, based in Farnborough, Hampshire. All I can say is WOW, they have made the car better than brand new, and it looks amazing.Image

Looks superb. Did you get it ceramic coated in the end?

That looks amazing. That is without doubt my favourite X5 colour. That’s a car to be proud of. Looks lovely.

Your car looks superb! You must be over the moon with the results. Wait until you come to clean it, it will be effortless.

My car was booked into be detailed straight from the dealer because even though I asked them not to 'clean' it, they went ahead anyhow and used a Brillo Pad on it.....not really, but they might as well have.

It was properly cleaned by (Swiss Car Spa in Zurich, and coated with Gyeon products - inside and out.

I couldn't get over the pure brilliance and depth of the shine on the paintwork after being properly treated. I was excited, thrilled, to pick up the car from the detailer and much more so than when I was handed the key by the dealer. It was soo much more of a positive experience and I couldn't stop thanking the guy for doing such a wonderful job.

Great result - it sure does make it stunning and as mentioned brings the depth of the colour out.
Which coating did you go for and is it one that has a 3 year guarantee?

My car is now 12 months old and the coating is still apparent after each wash. Effortless clean brings out the wet look gloss each time. Well worth the initial expense! Also the ceramic coating has so far kept off the swirl marks even with carbon black.

Make sure you use the right products when washing the car - no doubt your detailer recommended which is best. I use the Gyeon Bathe+ to wash the car which adds a silicone layer to the paint (water beads amazingly). Every 4 weeks I also add diluted Gtechnig C2 Liquid crystal detailer which adds further protection to the coating. Also Gyeon Foam is a great pre wash snow foam ;)

Thanks guys. The car was treated with Gtechniq products. I just wish it was sunny yesterday, so I could see the true effect of the new paintwork!

As I suffer with back problems, I can’t wash the car myself, so won’t get to “feel” the benefits like you guys have.

The guy that normally comes to the house to clean the car put some fine scratches on it last time (with a drying blade  >:(), so I’ve done a deal with these guys to do a wash every 3-4 weeks, so if the car needs any attention, they’ll sort it.

Looks great. My previous F15 was the same colour and I also had it detailed and protected. When I sold it after 3 years it looked as good as new. I treated in properly when I washed it and would drive it dirty rather than get it cleaned by the wrong people.

That said, the Space grey is a great colour for not seeing swirl marks in the first place.
Current: M50i arctic grey (G05)
Previous: RRS P400 HST, F15 M50d,F15 30d Msport, E70 35d Msport, 530i, Boxster, 330Ci Sport Vectra GSi, Chevrolet Lumina, Vxl Astras

It'll be allright in the end. If it isn't allright it isn't the end

This one isn't, as it looked awful with direct sunlight shining on it! :))
