Non run flats

Post by Robbo2411 » Sat Apr 07, 2018 8:51 pm

NOT another should I or Shouldn't I question....I'm going to....  My question is to anyone who has had non run flats fitted to an F15, is ,what  about the wear and mileage achieved.  How does it compare ?    I haven't decided which make to get yet but it will happen ,as soon as the warranty is out.

Don't mind you asking...this is a discussion forum and I was hoping to generate a bit of discussion as to how non run flat tyres wear,on an F15,as opposed to the run flats that are fitted from new.  This is because I don't know.  Hope that explains why..... Anything else ?

Actually yes, as I’m in the market for an F15 I was concerned you may be swapping from runflats because of the ride quality of run flats ?

If you are going Non RFTs are you buying a spare or like me no room for a spare due to third row seats?
I must say my Pirelli RFTs tread wear is very poor.
I had a set of winters tyres for the last 4 months which were not RFT and the difference in ride was much smoother and absorbed the bumps in the road much better.
If I had a choice and room for a spare I would definitely go non RFTs.

Yes...there's a bit to think about..My thoughts at the moment, with an 18 month old car, is do they tolerate NRF ,within the warranty? Thinking about the space saver ,I've seen some comments that they're not supposed to be fitted to a 7 seat car.  I wouldn't fancy a full size spare,( 20" ) leaving the gunky refill stuff from Halfords....I may have to replace with RF,this time, depending on warranty conditions.  I have 15 k on the car and have the usual rear ,inner wear so will have to make a decision soonish....Does the Halfords stuff reflate the tyre in real life ?  Thanks for replies...

Check Realoem to see if there is an ‘official’ non-RFT tyre listed.  I don’t believe that warranty issues come up unless you choose non ‘*’ marked tyres.  I haven't checked, but it is likely that non-RFT options exist which meet the BMW spec and so you won’t have trouble.

Actually sourcing the sizes can be the challenge!
