Remap M50D

Post by Rassi » Tue Jun 12, 2018 2:34 pm

I have booked my M50D in for a remap on Friday. Most of these only make 340-350 bhp but do reach the stated 740 nm torque. Projected results are 420-430 bhp and 850 nm.

I remember a recent thread where a remap ended with numerous problems but this thread seems to have been deleted. Anyone had a successful remap (not tuning box) and is there a noticeable difference? Basically miss my F10 M5 so this is to close the gap a little bit...

Anyway, got it remapped today, with 429 bhp and 826 Nm (corrected), up from 355 bhp and 733 Nm. Quite a difference, the midrange acceleration is very different, yet it still feels linear, just turned up to 11.

Gearbox service to follow next week to be on the safe side.

Hi

Those are awesome figures and I'm sure it's a beast to drive now and so effortless.

It even makes me consider going the diesel route of the M50d myself

Glad it's working well

Can't believe I've fooked about with them silly tuning boxes..

Different car now like a rocket!

Someone previously said, you couldn't give me a stock 50d add me to that list.

I'm interested however two questions
1. Does this affect the BMW 3 year warranty if something goes wrong with the engine?
2. Is this something you disclose to your insurer and if so how much does it add to the premium :(
Cheers Poolie!
