Leave Engine Running - Locked Doors

Post by BullyB » Sun Jul 01, 2018 1:32 pm

Just wondering if anybody ever locks their X5 but leaves the engine running.
I have done it a few times when defrosting on the drive and more recently to keep it cool before loading the dogs in.

Would Anybody be brave enough to leave it running, lock it and pop in to a shop for 5 minutes?
I wonder if the alarm activation shuts the engine off..?

Absolutely not, and your insurers would walk away too should anything go wrong.  Given the availability of kit to allow thieves into cars nowadays I just would not do it.

Never tried it...good Idea in the winter...I presume your using both keys??...If someone wanted to take it I would have thought they need to break a window or read the key that youve left in the ignition then program their key unlock it and away they go???

I have the keyless start so just take the key with me and lock it.
Works a treat for defrosting on the drive

Was just wondering if anybody else does it.
If it gets nicked, just say it was car jacked
