Towbar coding

Post by B5tew » Wed Aug 22, 2018 9:07 pm

Hi I am soon to pick up my new car a 2015 X5 30d sport f15 and need a Tow bar fitted.
I fitted the last one on my e53 myself as the electrics were plug and play but the PF Jones website states the f15 electrics require coding
Does anyone know what this involves and how I can get it done if I fit it myself.

I should imagine you have parking sensors, the coding takes into account the towns and allows for this. Also changes the gear changes when it's all plugged in. I use Enda Ward of
http://www.endtuning.com
He can even remotely do this over a secure internet connection provided you have all the correct obd plugs.

When I had my Jones towbar fitted it was totally plug and play.

The only coding required was to allow the zoom feature on the reverse camera. That was something I did myself with my plug in coder.
