Towbar storage bin

Post by ASL1956 » Thu Aug 15, 2019 8:31 pm

I fitted a Brinks tow bar to my F15 M sport but because it wasn't a factory fit I didn't get the under-boot floor storage bin for the swan-neck tow hitch. There is one advertised on e-bay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuine- ... 4902.l9144 but is listed for an E70. I wrote to BMW direct and they say it's only listed for an E70. But given that the under-floor boot space can't have changed that much and given the history of BMW direct that said the mud-flaps I bought from them wouldn't fit a M sport, which of course they do perfectly, I wondered if anyone has managed to fit this into an F15?

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Asl1956

Also have a f15msport, very interested to hear the mud flaps fit,, was advised they wouldn’t!

You don’t happen to have the part numbers to hand, as would like to fit some to mine to reduce damage to the sills and doors during the winter season

Thanks in advance

If you follow the earlier posts https://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16501 you'll see pictures of how they fit. I bought mine from Amazon as their returns policy is excellent and knew that if they didn't fit I could return them. They of course did fit!

Links to the items are here

I just need to find if the tow hitch storage will fit now :?

Many thanks and very much appreciated.

With regard to the storage, the post above mine, showed a link to realoem that indicates that they will fit, as below

Oddments tray, trailer hitch ball
From:11/27/2006To:-Weight:0.500 kgPrice:
Part 71606772223 was found on the following vehicles:

Off to find some mud flaps now and see what’s involved in fitting them

They're dead easy to fit. The use the wheel arch extender fixing rivets and have 3m adhesive strips down the side where they meat the body of the car. Mine have been on over a year and have never moved. You don't need to remove the wheels either.

Leslie,

Will let you know. I’ve ordered it off Amazon so will return if not. It should fit as I have had a Brinks tow hitch fitted which is the one BMW fit although it’s badged BMW but Brinks confirmed they are the supplier to BMW.
