Vibration shudder intermittent @ 55 to 75 mph

Post by tonka332 » Thu May 23, 2019 3:47 am

My car has created a strange vibration feels like its coming from the rear

BMW X5 F15 2015
Car has started to get a vibration / shudder when I go to speeds of 55 to 75 mph

The car only some times does this.
I have had all the wheels balanced and 4 wheel alignment. Pressures are at spec.

The thing is it doesnt happen all the time, when it does it if I switch to Sport mode it reduces the feeling.

Has anyone come across his before ?

Did you have the wheels road force balanced or on a normal balancing machine? I've found that virtually every BMW I've had a really sensitive to balancing and getting the wheels road force balanced sorted them.

I respect your patience with this....fwiw I would have tried a similar process of elimination. Unless discs look bad I would try transfer box fluid 1st. I would think that if discs were warped you would notice greater vibration under braking. Other considerations could be a worn engine/box mount/damper. Not trying to be smart & call this one. So many possibilities. I would suggest thrust bushes but as with brake discs i would expect increase of symptoms during heavy braking.
