2005 X3 E83 2.0d Lambda problem

Hi,

I have a couple of fault codes that are Lambda related, they are as follows:

Fault: Lambda probe signal virtual ground
Code: 0041F6

Fault: Lambda probe signal Nernst
Code: 0041D6

Do these codes mean the Lambda sensor is dead?
Is there anyway I can check the Lambda sensor?

I believe that there are two sensors in the exhaust before and after the DPF, is this correct?, if so how do I know which is broken?

The fault codes came from the Carly app and adapter.

On a 4 cylinder one cat so one sensor before one after.
I'm not positive but Carly should do live data from sensors, sure someone on here will know

Thanks for the reply (again).

I've checked out the Carly parameters, the only one that stood out for me was the Oxygen mass flow upstream of particle filters. That was giving a reading of  2.79 Kg/h this was at at tickover and fully warmed up.

I've no idea if that is ok though.

Is the reading fairly static, tou would expect cold to warmed up the readings should be different, also I would expect a MV or volt reading.

Am I right in thinking it is showing minus temperatures ?

Hi,

I thought the temperatures were very odd, I tried looking for the live data on INPA. There were two analog pages but neither of them showed any O2 sensor (Lambda) data.

I have a friend with a Foxwell scanner that shows the live data for O2 sensors in millivolts.
I am hoping to borrow it from him in the next few days, I'll post the results.

Well, the Foxwell didn't give me any more information, so I've decided to just change it anyway and see if the error codes disappear.

So my next question is, what is the best way to get to the Oxygen sensor from inside the engine bay?

I looked on RealOEM and it looks line I have one oxygen sensor and two temperature sensors. I've ordered the oxygen sensor (Bosch) and the proper tool to remove it. just need to find the best way to do that now.

Just changed the oxygen sensor, cleared the fault codes and went for a 10 mile drive. Read the codes when I got back and no oxygen sensor faults.

So that's another job ticked off the list, just got to get the snapped glow plug out and the fan sorted, then the car should be perfect.......
